Copenhagen Ceramics is an exhibition platform, that began its activities in 2012,
aiming to showcase and demonstrate
the high quality and great diversity
of contemporary Danish ceramics as well
as work by selected non-Danish artists.

The objectives of Copenhagen Ceramics are to show a wide range of contemporary artistic modes of expression in ceramics and to encourage an exchange of knowledge, insight and inspiration, with the aim of continuously broadening and supporting a close interaction with the international scene. Throughout the three-year period 2012 – 2014 Copenhagen Ceramics presented, in the gallery space at Frederiksberg in Copenhagen, a total of 27 shows, all of which were extremely well received in Denmark and internationally. In 2013 we also curated the exhibition Terres -Copenhagen Ceramics Invites, at Galerie Maria Lund in Paris, in conjunction with the arts festival, Nouvelles Vagues, la saison des jeunes curateurs, initiated by Palais de Tokyo. All 27 shows, with artist presentations, hi-res images for download and press releases can still be viewed in detail at this website using the coloured buttons to the top left to alternate between the 3 years. The gallery space at the back premises of Smallegade 46, Frederiksberg in Copenhagen was closed by the end of season 2014 and the initiators of the Copenhagen Ceramics project are currently working to establish new ways of presenting contemporary ceramics in Denmark and internationally. You can follow news about the project by visiting our blog and sign up for newsletters by filling in the form under contact. Copenhagen Ceramics is initiated and directed by Danish ceramics artists, Steen Ipsen, Bente Skjøttgaard and Martin Bodilsen Kaldahl. The initiative has been generously supported by Danish Crafts (now part of the Danish Arts Foundation), OAK Foundation Denmark, Danmarks Nationalbanks Jubilæumsfond af 1968, Ellen and Knud Dalhoff-Larsen Fond, Augustinus Fonden, Etatsråd Georg Bestle og Hustrus Mindelegat, Albertsen Fonden, The Danish Arts Council (Statens Kunstfond) and Ole Haslunds Kunstnerfond.
